Professional Fit
New Balance is a performance brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. Part of producing superior footwear and athletic apparel is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance. New Balance understands that fit is much more than just a shoe size. That’s why the fit specialists at our stores are trained to provide each of our customers with a professional fit.
At our Delaware, DC, and NOVA locations there are thirteen Procare fit specialists and one Pedorthist. What is a Procare fit specialist? A Procare fit specialist is someone that has completed New Balance Athletic Shoe’s comprehensive online training and has successfully passed their online exams, as well as, trained one on one with our on staff Pedorthist. The Procare training offers our employees the tools to measure length, width, and arch length using a Brannock (measuring device) device. This helps determine the proper size and width for each customer. In addition to the Brannock device, our stores use the Pressure Stats and I-step machine (I-step is available only at our Wilmington and DC store locations) to help determine the customer’s arch height and pressure points. These are tools that help us provide the proper shoe for your foot type. Our staff is trained to know that low to medium arches normally need some type of medial support and a high arched foot requires a neutral shoe to help with lateral support. |
