The New Balance Arch Company was founded in 1906 by William Riley in Belmont, MA. Originally only a producer of supports and orthopedic shoes, during the 1950’s and 60’s many athletes went to the company for customized running shoes.  In 1956 Paul Kidd purchased the company and soon afterwards switched the company’s primary focus to the production of running shoes.  The New Balance “Trackster” grew very popular, not because of any specific innovation, but because of its availability in a range of widths. It was then that New Balance developed into a specialized shoe manufacturer and has since grown to become a leading global athletic products company. Today New Balance is a family of brands including New Balance, Dunham, PF Flyers, Aravon, Warrior and Brine.

New Balance is a brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. Part of producing superior footwear and athletic apparel is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance. The experts at New Balance know that fit is much more than just a shoe size. That’s why the fit specialists at our stores are trained to provide each of our customers with a professional fit.
